Dover Mayor Bob Dentler dies

Joel Shannon, York Daily RecordRobert "Bob" Dentler(Photo: Submitted)Dover Mayor Robert "Bob" Dentler died Saturday, according to his obituary and a post on the Dover website.Dentler, 67, was a very active member of Union Fire & Hose Company No. 1 of Dover and he was the fire police captain. According to his obituary, Dentler is survived by his wife, Linda, to whom he had been married for 44 years.Dentler, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, had many memberships, including the Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and West York VFW 8951. He was a former Dover Borough Councilman, member of the Dover Recreation Committee and a former member and president of the Dover Jaycees.More: Tribute to York's fallen firefighters played on Weaver OrganDentler worked as a diesel mechanic and had also been a truck driver over the years. He worked for R.L. Brandt Trucking and retired from Krapf Bus Company in Spring Grove. He also worked part-time for Quigley 4x4 in Manchester.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, grandchildren and siblings.A viewing for Dentler will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Emig Funeral Home, Dover.
